Travel Tips for a Twenty Something

Looking to travel in the future, but on a tight budget? Look no further, because in this post I will be providing travel tips for how to make the most of your vacation while not going over your budget. My favorite hobby is to travel, so these tips have been tried, tested on the battlefield, and survived it all!

1) KAYAK.COM: Any travel-lover should know this site. It compares all airlines, including airline aggregators such as Expedia/Travelocity, and will show you the cheapest airfare during the time you are looking to travel. If you setup an account, you can even search over multiple days to find the best deal. This tool is my #1 recommendation because it has saved me hundreds of $$ each time I fly. A secondary tool, after using kayak, is farecast.com. It tells you, based on analyzing the average price of that ticket over time, whether to buy now, wait or buy later. Microsoft appears to have bought the site and is promoting it as part of bing (I saw it in bing commercials), but it is still a very useful tool. [continue reading »]
